A single-family home situated within Sydney’s inner west; alterations to the existing ground floor allow for greater amenity through the placement of new bathrooms and laundry spaces, while a new side entry softly partitions the junction between old and new. Circulating further towards the rear reveals the generosity of the new addition, housing an integrated kitchen, dining, and living space. Adjacent to the garden stair, a row of skylights and glazed sliding doors work together to bring elements of the outside in. The upper level, containing new bedrooms and workspaces is conceived as a simple volume. A series of sliding windows wrap the perimeter facade, maximising exposure to natural light and allowing the occupants control over their sense of enclosure.
